A good teacher that touches the lives of her students will never be forgotten.  Her inspiring words of wisdom will always be remembered. Her smile encourages students to be kind to others.

Warm and Cold Foods

·         Use handy thermos for storing hot soup.
·         The thermos can maintain either warm or cold.
·         Choose a small amount of freezer packs to help keep things cold and to keep away from any food spoilage. If you're bothered about condensation, put the freezer packs into plastic bags or wrap them in aluminum foil. Put the bags in the freezer before bed and they will be ready to go by morning.

Dengue Awareness Month

We are all aware that June is declared as Dengue Awareness Month.  Weather we like it or not these mosquitoes can be found in our environment.  However, we can eliminate or totally eradicate these mosquitoes if we will make our own effort to cooperate and help our community and government.

  • Dengue Fever and Dengue Haemoragic Fever are the most common mosquito borne viral disease in the world.
  • If you get a second dengue infection, you can get a worse infection such as dengue haemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome which can be fatal.
  • These mosquitoes have black and white stripes on its legs and body.
  • They usually bite during the day.
  • They lay eggs in clean, stagnant water.

We all know that this deadly mosquitoes are lurking around.  We have read information about it. Sad to say that some will only do their cleaning when someone is already infected with dengue. So our government introduced this 4 o'clock habit to help eliminate these mosquitoes in our surroundings.

Congratulations to the schools and barangays who are doing this 4 o'clock habit.  Hoping more schools and barangays will implement it too.  If everybody will cooperate and do their own share starting from your own homes this will greatly contribute to a cleaner and safer environment.

How about you, do you have something to add or to share with us? Share with us your insights, experience on dengue fever?

Food Trip

Were were on a food trip when we found this Instagrill, like a Korean restaurant at corner Padre Gomez and Roxas Avenue.  They have a variety of foods with the choices of pork, beef, chicken, and sea foods. They also have the Shabu-shabu style of preparing soup.

Many people queue to wait for their turn at the counter to get their food because "Pay as you Order". While I was in the queue I asked my daughter to look for a table because it's already jump packed so early. I was looking at the fresh sea foods and marinated meat at the counter. Their prices are very affordable.

What excites us was their concept of cooking your own food right on your table.  After you pay your order, the waitress will bring your food at the table together with their portable gas stove, grilling pan, food tong. Then she started to check the stove and switched it on.  We were laughing at first, but then later on we enjoyed grilling our food. We grill and eat until we have consumed all our orders.

The place was cozy and many people are still on queue. I can see the excitement in the faces of the customers cooking their own food.  It was a good experience though. The thrill was there too, checking and turning your food. Turning it every now and then so that it will not burn.

The ladies beside our table are first timers too.  They are looking at the stove and asking one another, how does this thing work? So I looked at them and said, pull down the white switch and then turn on the knob.  Once your grilling pan is hot, you can start grilling your food. Then they burst into laughter and said, thank you Ma'am, it's our first time to use this stove. After that they enjoyed grilling and turning their food.  The experience was fun and exciting and the food was delecious. Definitely we are satisfied with our food trip at Instagrill. Happy tummy!

How about you? Have you been there? Have you tried their shabu-shabu too? Tell me your experience.
